1,000 firms signed up to Milan catering equipment fair

The organisers of the Host exhibition in Italy revealed this week that more than 1,000 foodservice equipment companies from around the world have now signed up to this year’s show, with six months still to go until the event kicks off.

Host has become one of the largest platforms for catering equipment buyers and sellers to do business and this year there will bea dozen pavilions packed with the latest foodservice kit.

The 12 pavilions will be divided into three main macro-areas that bring together professional catering and bread-pizza-pasta; ice cream-pastry, coffee-tea and bars-vending machines; and furnishings and tableware.

Oganisers say the event will reflect the fact that the hospitality and retail sectors are converging, while the revamping of outlets and multi-channel points of sale continues to force operators to transform new concepts into structured formats capable of generating new business.

Around 1,500 “high profile” buyers and tens of thousands of visitors from around the world are expected at the 2015 show, which kicks off at the Fiera Milano in Rho from Friday 23 to Tuesday 27 October.

“We are making the most of the highly international environment of Host to present our company as a multinational that is at the same time also attentive to local conditions,” said Nicola Michelon, sales and marketing director of Unox, the bakery and combi oven maker that derives 92% of its turnover from exports.

Similarly, Nereo Marzaro, president of Sirman, said: “We participate in over 50 trade shows but for us this is the fair from which we expect to get the best business returns.”

Elisabeth Knitz, senior marketing manager international at dishwasher manufacturer Winterhalter, added: “Our main markets are Europe and Asia, and for this reason Host is a key event for us.”

Host 2015 will focus on “food conservation management”, according to the organisers, while the cold foods sector will have its own exhibition space, which, with the help of some of the leading experts in this industry and a partnership with Italian trade association Assofrigoristi, will gather many leading companies and their latest products in one place.

Host was great for Adande last year. We won a Smart Label for our unique ‘Hold the Cold’ refrigeration and showcased our equipment in the Innovation Zone! Hoping 2015 is as successful.
