Novameta is a name that UK catering equipment buyers will get to hear more about at Hotelympia as it exhibits some of the newest additions to its burgeoning range of commercial kitchen equipment, including bar solutions, bespoke servery counters, highly efficient extraction canopies and cooling equipment. The company has high hopes for its Ergoblok height-adjustable prep station, which allows food preparation at an ergonomic working height to increase productivity and reduce personnel fatigue. The company, which claims to be the largest manufacturer of stainless steel commercial kitchen equipment in Scandinavia and the Baltics, says the tailored prep stations can be made in lengths of up to 4000mm.
RB Distributors will be showcasing the new Pira charcoal ovens at Hotelympia. Available in two sizes, both of which come in a black and stainless steel finish, the Pira Lux 45 is suitable for 90 covers while the Pira Lux 50 can cater for up to 120 covers. Pneu-Therm, the exclusive UK and Ireland distributor for Höller Buffet Solutions, will be showcasing the European manufacturer’s “revolutionary” CCP hot and cold food service and display plate. The plate is available in a range of standard sizes and comes as either a drop-in or countertop version. Refrigeration manufacturer Precision will be showing the latest versions of its products at Hotelympia. Its counters and upright cabinets are pushing new energy efficiency boundaries in advance of new EU directives coming into force this summer. Energy-saving features include advanced compressors, hydrocarbon refrigerant and low-energy fan technology. Another highlight for Precision is its ‘go anywhere’ blast chiller freezer. This 40kg model uses newly-developed control technology to reduce the amount of power required, allowing it to operate from a standard 13 amp supply, meaning kitchens with restricted power supplies can benefit from a fully-featured blast chiller/freezer.
Rational will be demonstrating how easy it is to prepare different types of food with flexibility and consistent results using its SelfCookingCenter 5 Senses combi oven. At the show it will also be demonstrating its new cross and stripe grill grate accessory that creates two different grilling patterns. Usable on both sides, the grilling grid produces either the favourite American steakhouse pattern or the classic parallel grill stripes. Together with the SelfCookingCenter, operators can produce large quantities of food. In fact, up to 160 steaks with a grill pattern can be prepared uniformly in just 15 minutes at the press of a button. Meanwhile, the TriLax non-stick coated grate has excellent heat conductivity and requires no preheating. Nothing sticks to the grill, making cleaning quick and effortless.

Smeg shines with expanded product range
Smeg is planning to present a variety of new equipment and operating features at Hotelympia that will support and enhance a wide range of foodservice operations. Its new Ecoline range of warewashers offers a well-designed and functional option for operations that need an affordable solution with ease of operation and standard features like three-stage filtration, while on the cooking front it will outline its newly-developed range of Italian-made electric multifunction and combi ovens. The company will also introduce two new refrigerator cabinet models at Hotelympia: a 1,400-litre unit and a 700-litre unit. Both models are finished in AISI 304 stainless steel and have a ‘tropicalized’ monobloc refrigeration unit to ensure high performance, even in environments with temperatures up to 43°C. They are also insulated to 75mm thickness with high density polyurethane foam.
Bespoke food servery counters and energy-saving foodservice solutions are the focus of Victor Manufacturing’s stand at Hotelympia. The Bradford-based outfit will be demonstrating its custom counter capabilities with examples of high quality products that deliver on functionality and design. Victor’s recently-launched tabletop heated drawer unit, designed to help operators make the most out of the thriving on-the-go market, will also be shown at the event. Aimed at cafés and food-to-go operators, the new model enables caterers to prepare and store hot ingredients, aiding the quick make-up of hot sandwiches and other items in advance of the desired serving time.
Seven products from the ever-expanding portfolio of chiller cabinets and coldrooms built by European refrigeration solutions manufacturer Viessmann will be on show at Hotelympia. Headlining the Viessmann stand will be the new Visio cabinet, which was added to the company’s product range when it acquired Norpe three years ago. Visio is a unique, spacious, four-sided glass construction with doors on both sides. Its striking appearance and transparent facade make it ideal for restaurants, cafés and hotel lobbies, which can configure it in a way that reflects their offering. Because of its large capacity, staff will not have to constantly replenish it, while castor wheels make it easy to move around to make the most of floor space as needs change.
Wexiödisk will debut the latest addition to its portfolio in the shape of the new WD-4S undercounter warewasher. Merging a quiet yet efficient wash cycle with the capacity to process up to 50 baskets per hour — equivalent to 1,000 glasses or 900 plates — the WD-4S is more than capable of withstanding even the most vigorous demands. It also features a smart, touch-sensitive, tempered glass display, intuitive icons for clear and simple operation and a bright, vivid digital screen showing status indication, tank temperature and remaining wash time. The company will also highlight its WD-7 Duplus single-hood machine at the event. The unit utilises a pioneering double-rinse sequence, resulting in just one litre of fresh water being used per cycle.
A major focus of refrigeration manufacturer Williams’ stand at Hotelympia will be a striking coldroom that exemplifies the way new technology is coming to the fore. While cold rooms are typically used for the general storage of both fresh and frozen produce, the addition of designer cladding and viewing windows is encouraging many operators to site them front-of-house for dramatic displays of foodstuffs such as meat, cured fish and drinks. Visitors to the stand will be able to see a three-compartment coldroom with glass viewing panels, showing off the different produce inside and illustrating how coldrooms can be integrated into the front-of-house design of a restaurant. Additionally, the brand will highlight its range of compact and grab-and-go refrigeration.
Winterhalter is promising a stand full of “UK firsts” at Hotelympia, including the launch of the UF series of utensil washers and the chance for visitors to get inside the inner-workings of a dishwasher. Stand-goers will be able to enter two simulator cabins that demonstrate the effects of its ClimatePlus technology on the kitchen environment and detail the engineering behind the new UF utensil washer. The UF simulator replicates a giant utensil washer, including the wash arm, so visitors can understand how the new UF Series achieves sparkling clean results, while the PT ClimatePlus simulator will demonstrate how the warewasher actually cools down a hot kitchen.
