Bella Italia is continuing its assault on Britain’s retail and leisure parks by fitting out and opening a restaurant in London’s largest retail park.
The 180-cover site at Gallions Reach Shopping Park in Beckton, East London, which boasts more than 30 retail and restaurant units, and in excess of 2,000 free parking spaces, opens it up to a catchment area of almost 1.3m people.
Bella Italia has invested almost £950,000 into the site and signed a 15-year lease. With a ground floor and mezzanine layout, it says the restaurant is ideal for daytime shopping hours and Friday and Saturday peak trading, while plans at the scheme for a cinema and further restaurant units are expected to boost future evening trade.
The Beckton restaurant is on strategy for Bella’s retail and leisure park growth plan, which began in April, in Bristol, followed by sites on parks in Ashton-under-Lyne, Dudley, Taplow, Crewe and Hemel Hempstead.
With revitalised interiors, a broader menu and the development of external dining areas, the company has repositioned itself as a premier all-day Italian restaurant.
It now has 88 restaurants in the UK, with its newest openings coming in Hemel Hempstead, Crewe and Islington. Casual Dining Group, which owns Bella is expanding Bella at the rate of 20 sites per annum. As well as opening new branches, the chain is also undertaking a refurbishment programme, introducing a revitalised look and feel to the estate.
