Industry stalwart Glenn Roberts is making a return to the foodservice refrigeration sector after being installed as the global head of business for Polar Refrigeration.
Mr Roberts was the former managing director of Gram’s UK operation for more than a decade but left to join water filter maker BRITA Professional a year ago.
He is set to resume his association with the refrigeration market in his new role at Polar, which is one of the largest own-label brands supplied by Uropa Brands and the Nisbets Group.
As well as its presence in the UK and Ireland, Polar products are also sold in mainland Europe, Australia and New Zealand.
Mr Roberts’ remit will be to further develop the brand in those territories, while identifying new market opportunities.
Klaus Goeldenbot, group CEO of Nisbets, said: “I am delighted we have someone of Glenn’s stature joining Polar Refrigeration which is part of the successful Uropa Brands wholesale catering equipment business. I wish him every success in his new role, taking Polar to the next stage in its development.”
Along with Buffalo, Olympia and Vogue, Polar is one of Uropa’s leading brands, offering a wide range of commercial refrigerators, freezers, blast chillers and ice makers. It recently launched its first series of cold rooms for commercial kitchen operators.
Mr Roberts, who is also the current chair of CESA, will be based at the National Catering Equipment Centre (NCEC) in Bristol.
