Brita devises coffee training programme for operators

Brita Professional has teamed up with specialist barista duo, Rob Dunne and Victor Frankowski, to create an exclusive coffee training programme.

The training sessions have been specially devised to help operators understand how water affects the quality of coffee. The interactive one-day sessions will be personally led by the pair, who have run their own coffee consultancy for the past four years.

Each of the training sessions will take attendees through practical and theoretical elements including the science of flavour, aroma and taste, coffee cupping, sensory experiences and water theory.

Frankowski said: “Baristas and coffee operators across the board put an immense amount of effort into their coffee — from the sourcing and roasting of the beans, to the brewing and presentation. However, water is often overlooked when baristas are perfecting their coffee recipe. We’ve been working with BRITA to explore how water affects both espresso and filter and we’re excited to share our combined knowledge through these sessions.”

The sessions, which launched this week, will be offered exclusively through BRITA Professional to customers, partners and operators interested in learning about water.

The partnership with DunneFrankowski will also provide a new chapter for Brita’s ‘Business Toolkit’, which offers practical advice to coffee shops and start-ups on how to make their business more profitable.
