Burberry breaks into restaurant market

It’s best known for its luxury bags and scarves — but fashion giant Burberry is now hoping to carve out a new revenue stream from foodservice.

The company has installed an all-day café at its flagship Regent Street store in London, and hopes to tempt shoppers and passers-by with a menu of British classics.

The café has been created following a large expansion of the store earlier this year. It will offer everything from afternoon tea to lobster with chips, seven days a week.

Burberry expands its Regent Street Store 4Branded ‘Thomas’s’, the restaurant is committed to offering the finest seasonal produce from small farmers and artisan suppliers from around the UK.

Burberry opened the Regent Street store three years ago, but only through expanding the site has it been possible to accommodate a kitchen and restaurant.

The store has previously been able to provide food and drink, but never a permanent restaurant.
