Catering equipment brand Burco is to stop manufacturing water boilers from its traditional base in Southport and instead carry out their production from existing group facilities in Dunleer, Ireland.
Operation, design and development activities for commercial water boilers will also take place in Ireland from April, while distribution will be managed from the group’s large-scale logistics centre in Burnley.
The shift in production strategy forms part of a wider internal restructuring that will see the Burco water boiler business become part of Glen Dimplex Heating and Ventilation from 2 April.
Bosses at the group believe the re-jig is a better fit for the business as it strengthens the heating and ventilation portfolio, enhancing the division’s centre of excellence for hot water equipment and heating and ventilation products.
Steven Mortimer, chief commercial officer at Glen Dimplex Heating and Ventilation, which is based in Southampton, said: “With a seamless transition between the two divisions, customers can expect the same great service and leading support they have come to rely on, while our expertise and drive for innovation will continue to support the future expansion and development of the Burco product range.”
The latest restructuring concludes a period of considerable change for what was the Glen Dimplex Professional Appliances division.
In August last year it announced the withdrawal of the LEC commercial refrigeration brand and all Burco Cooking products in order to focus exclusively on water boilers.
