Chains take space at new West Midlands leisure hub

Multimillion pound plans for four new restaurants and cafes at Dudley’s Castlegate Business Park have been unveiled as part of an expansion of the site.

A Hungry Horse pub, Costa Coffee outlet and KFC fast food restaurant will be built on land by the existing Premier Inn hotel. There is also a fourth unit on the complex which developers hope will be filled by another restaurant.

The Express & Star reported that plans submitted to Dudley Council by Stoford Properties show the project will create around 80 full-time equivalent jobs. Greene King’s Hungry Horse pub alone is expected to employ up to 20 full-time and 40 part-time workers.

The borough’s regeneration boss, Councillor Khurshid Ahmed, said: “Any proposals to create jobs and investment is good news for the borough. Obviously this will need to go through the normal planning process to be determined, but it does show that Dudley is an attractive place for major, national brands to invest.”

The Castlegate Business Park already houses a number of restaurant chains including Frankie and Benny’s and Pizza Hut.
