Convotherm’s revamped mini combi oven range has landed in the UK – and the firm says the units boast a number of added features without any increase in price.
The first batch of ovens arrived on British shores from Convotherm’s factory in Germany last week, and is currently on show at parent company Welbilt’s stand at Hotelympia. Full UK availability is expected in the coming weeks.
Steve Hemsil, Welbilt’s UK sales director, said the range has been upgraded to reflect the needs of modern foodservice operators.
“We have manufactured mini ovens for 10 years and in that time we hadn’t seen a lot of advancement. So what we have done is we have restyled it because we appreciate that these can also sit front-of-house and style is also important in some of those venues.
“We have also added a lot of features into the units as standard now – things that used to be optional extras before. The new minis include our fully automatic cleaning system, autofan function and what we call our easyStart system, which allows the oven to be intuitive based on the particular programmes that are regularly used.”
Mr Hemsil said the range dovetails nicely with its sister brand Merrychef to give customers with space limitations complete flexibility.
“You have got the Merrychef that is fast but single items, whereas the Convotherm gives the operator the ability to bulk-cook more, and the one thing we have got in our favour is the width of the range because we have got the 606, which is a 2/3 size, and the 1/1 size, so full gastronorm, as well as the mini unit, which has its own built-in facility for water and waste if they don’t have one.”
He added that customers won’t have to fork out more to get their hands on the new models as Convotherm has held the prices.
“Price wise we have kept them the same – so we have responded to the market by including things that customers used to have to pay for as optional extras but kept the cost the same. And we have actually just launched a new price list for the entire Comvortherm range, which has seen a lot of price reductions,” revealed Mr Hemsil.
