One of the UK’s largest motorway service area operators, Roadchef, has announced the opening of a new motorway drive-thru Costa a year on from the UK’s first site.

The £500,000 development on the M1 will build on the range of services already on offer at Northampton South, which includes a sit-in Costa, McDonald’s, WHSmith, and Fresh Food Café.

The new drive-thru will serve Costa coffee as well as a full range of sandwiches, cakes and snacks.

Kersh Van Laar, site director for Northampton, said: “The new Drive-Thru Costa really complements our current offering at Northampton South with customers having a wider range of choice than ever before. It provides motorists with the convenience being able to make a quick stop-off and enjoy a delicious Costa coffee on the go.”

Simon Turl, CEO of Roadchef, added: “This new drive-thru facility reinforces our investment in the Northampton area, which is a key site for the business and we’re proud to be able to offer our customers this on-the-go option.”

Recently crowned Barista of the Year, and Roadchef team member, Klara Rohel, assisted in training ten new colleagues at the drive-thru facility.

Roadchef has recently been awarded an Investors in People Gold accreditation for the support and development of its team.  Less than 100 companies in the UK hospitality have achieved this accolade.
