When David Wild was appointed interim CEO of Domino’s Pizza UK two years ago it was only a matter of months before his position was made permanent, with the firm’s board calling off their recruitment search when they realised his clarity of thought around the company’s strategy — both in how to progress in the UK and internationally — was exactly what they were looking for.
Their confidence has certainly been repaid, with accounts for the first half of the year revealing it has now seen 11 successive quarters of double-digit like-for-like sales growth. 31 stores opened during the first six months of the year, a record for the company following a solid increase on the 24 it opened in the same period a year before.
Average sales per address in new stores were also up 24%. Domino’s digital investment programme is paying dividends, with e-commerce orders rising and mobile now contributing some 62% of online sales.
“We continue to invest in and develop our e-commerce platform and we are pleased that mobile purchases are driving online sales across the system,” says David.
Internationally, meanwhile, David recently led the £24m acquisition of minority interests in Domino’s master franchisees in Iceland, Norway and Sweden.
