A service that allows operators to procure large-ticket catering equipment from Electrolux less than 24 hours after placing their order could be extended to other items in its portfolio, the company’s MD has told FEJ.

The manufacturer’s ‘Electrolux Express’ service currently encompasses food preparation equipment, refrigeration and warewashing, but the company is considering widening it to include cooking equipment as well.

Darren Lockley, who runs Electrolux’s professional products division in the UK, said that given the fast-moving nature of the foodservice industry, the company is constantly monitoring the service and its performance with a view to strengthening it over time.

“Looking at the medium to long-term, our intention is to enhance Electrolux Express even further by adding a portfolio of cooking equipment,” he said. “With many chefs claiming that their six burner ranges and combi ovens are the backbone to their kitchen, being able to give them better access to quick replacement of these products would provide us with a genuine advantage over other manufacturers in the market.”

Although Lockley isn’t putting a timeframe on when that could happen, he confirmed that the company is examining the situation closely.

“We are already analysing the market in more detail to see how we can further enhance our service to assist both our distributors and their customers with future purchasing decisions,” he said.
