EWC boss appointed chairman of industry body

European Water Care’s managing director Steve Slark has been named as the new chairman of the Beverage Standards Association (BSA), with effect from May 1.

Slark has been involved in the water and beverage industry for several years, including working as managing director of Abbeychart, followed by a four-year stint at Pelican as founder and managing director.

BSA directors, Ranald Paterson and Angus Mackenzie, said in a joint statement that Slark has the qualities to lead the organisation into its next chapter.

“With Steve’s experience in the industry, we know that he will bring new vision and ideas to the Association,” they said. “This will build on the successful growth of the association over the last four years that Martyn Herriott has been chairman.”

Slark commented: “I am delighted to be following in the footsteps of Martyn Herriott who has committed a considerable amount of time to grow the association over the last four years. It will be tremendous to carry forward many of the successful benefits that members presently enjoy and drive the association forward for existing and new members.”

The BSA is dedicated to fostering the growth of the UK out-of-home beverage market and raising the quality of beverages produced and the standard of service provided. It also provides a platform from which to address the government and legislative bodies on matters which concern members.
