FEJ AWARDS 2018: All the winners revealed as the industry celebrates kitchen innovation at gala dinner and ceremony

The winners of the inaugural FEJ Awards have been announced following a glittering gala dinner and awards ceremony in Birmingham.

150 senior executives packed out the Westminster Suite of the Hilton Metropole to celebrate innovation within the industry from a kitchen and back-of-house perspective.

Executive chefs and food development heads from restaurant chains, pub groups, contract caterers and multi-site foodservice operators were out in force at the event, along with the industry’s leading suppliers, project houses and service providers. Many had earlier attended the Commercial Kitchen show, which takes place again today at the NEC.

The FEJ Awards was founded to honour the operators involved in creating winning kitchen templates and menu development strategies on a multi-site basis – as well as the manufacturers and project specialists that make this possible by providing superior catering equipment and support.

The finalists in attendance at the FEJ Awards collectively represented some 15,000 kitchens across the UK, underscoring their scale and reach in the market.

Following a drinks reception at the Terrace Bar, guests enjoyed a three-course meal interspersed with the presentation of 15 highly prized awards.

The FEJ Awards are unique for the fact that the winners of each category are entirely decided by the industry. With the exception of the final three individual awards of the night, the winners unveiled during the evening were all decided by the industry following an online vote, making it the ultimate endorsement from the trade.

Many of the categories went down to the wire and in some cases the difference between first and second place was just a couple of percent, underlining just how high the standards have been set.

The event would not have been possible without the support of supporting partner Commercial Kitchen and category sponsors Carpigiani, Ceda, Jestic, Meiko, Panasonic and True Refrigeration.

Representatives from each company were invited onto the stage during the evening to present awards to the winning operators.
