Forecourt operator to open a Subway a week in 2016

Petrol station operator Euro Garages has set itself the ambitious target of having 175 Subway stores open at its sites by the end of 2016.

The group revealed its foodservice aspirations for the next 12 months after recently hitting its end-of-year target with the opening of the 100th integrated Subway store at Holtspur Service Station in Beaconsfield.

Euro Garages has created around 700 jobs since embarking on its plans to reach 100 Subway stores, with the latest opening in Buckinghamshire creating 20 positions.

Having acquired 172 new petrol sites, including 104 ESSO forecourt sites in the South East and a further 68 Shell sites across the country earlier this year, Euro Garages is on a major national expansion drive at present. It now owns and operates more than 360 forecourt sites in the UK.

If it meets its targets it will look to open a new Subway at a rate of more than one a week next years.

The Subway brand is known for its strength in introducing the brand through effective convenience channels, and this partnership offers strong support for our own business.”

Euro GaragesSubway currently operates more than 2,000 stores in the UK and Ireland. Around 25% of these are sited in non-traditional locations, such as on forecourt sites or within convenience stores.
