A modern interpretation of the traditional steak house is set to come to London’s Kentish Town next month when a new restaurant concept takes hold.
Beef & Brew is a dining experience that promises to offer affordable and quality steaks, as well as plentiful beer.
Focussing on provenance, but using better value cuts, the menu will shy away from loins, ribs and fillets, instead embracing rumps, flat irons and onglets.
Beef & Brew is the brainchild of Simmons and Daniel Nathan. Simmons has a huge amount of experience in the restaurant business, having worked as a chef for Angela Hartnett at both Murano and the Whitechapel Gallery Dining Room.
Nathan said: “Jess and I share a love of quality, unpretentious food and Beef & Brew will reflect that. The most important thing is that we’ll have a classically trained chef, dedicating herself to the simple and indulgent.”
The drinks’ list is beer-focused and will showcase the best of the British brewing scene, while head chef Jessica Simmons also uses beer in a number of her recipes, inspired by her time setting up the kitchen at London Fields Brewery.
Alongside the core steak offering, the menu will offer a range of beef dishes. Rare roasted rump caps will be used in a salad with roasted and pickled carrots, while salt brisket will be served in a classic dish with leeks and mustard cream.
