A healthy eating restaurant chain in Northern Ireland that had built up a £4m business has reportedly entered liquidation.
Slim’s Healthy Kitchen, set up by entrepreneur Gary McIldowney four years ago after the former electrician underwent a dramatic weight loss, has closed its Victoria Square premises in Belfast city centre and five other locations, according to the Belfast Telegraph.
Records show that McKeague Morgan & Company has now been appointed liquidator of GJD Restaurants Ltd, which owns the brand, after a voluntary winding-up order was issued.
A further two stores operated by the chain are continuing to trade under a new structure, the paper said.
“In the new structure with our partners, the retained restaurants continue to successfully operate at Lisburn Road and Belmont Road,” the company said.
It said that all staff at the affected restaurants had been offered employment at other locations and as a result jobs and employee rights were secure.
“We are confident this process of reorganisation will strengthen the business for future growth,” it added.
