2017 marks an historic milestone for Hoshizaki as it celebrates 70 years of innovation, perseverance, and dedication to quality.
The year is doubly significant as it is also 25 years since Hoshizaki Europe was formed.
Founded by the late Shigetoshi Sakamoto, and with initial operations involving only four staff members, Hoshizaki has achieved monumental growth, culminating in its position as the largest ice machine producer.
Its ice machines, and latterly fridges and freezers, are now sold in more than 100 countries across many different sectors via its network of valued dealers.
It has been an exciting journey over the past 70 years. Starting in the 40s making parts for sewing machines, the 50s saw Hoshizaki get its big break in soft drink vending machines, and the 60s introduced the release of Japan’s first automatic ice machine.
Sakamoto believed that a new wave of luxury living was about to explode. It was a hard sell as customers were wary of claims that these machines could make ice in just 30 minutes and it was the progressive American market that first embraced the concept.
Throughout the 70s, refrigerators and dishwashers were added to the range of products produced by Hoshizaki, while the following two decades saw the company further expand into US, Europe and the rest of the world.
Heading into the 21st century, the Hoshizaki brand continued to expand as Lancer, the world’s second largest beverage dispenser manufacturer, and the Danish refrigerator company Gram Commercial A/S, joined the Hoshizaki group.
The journey of the brand and its success, employees, and quality products are celebrated, and the vision for the years to come are re-established.
Aiming high, Hoshizaki intends to have the No. 1 share in all individual countries and regions by 2020, with the goal of Hoshizaki being in half of the world’s kitchens and standing alone as a leader in foodservice equipment.
“Over the years, our loyal staff and dealers have played a key role in helping us achieve remarkable success and, for that, we are truly grateful,” comments Toshiki Agata, managing director of Hoshizaki Europe BV. “Our considerable achievements are largely down to the many individuals who believe in Hoshizaki and we welcome this opportunity to show our immense gratitude and appreciation.”
Mr Agata said he wished to thank all of its customers who contribute every day to its success, and for the continued loyalty over the past and future years to come.
