Kitchen brand that fell into administration is resurrected

A kitchenware brand whose parent business went into administration last year has been brought back to life by Gastronomy Plus, the company behind Sous Vide Tools.

Peter Maturi, a provider of high quality knifeware and kitchen essentials, was one of the most established catering businesses in the north of England, but the family-owned outfit shut up shop on its brick and mortar stores last year.

However, the brand has been resurrected by Gastronomy Plus, which sees a future for the business in offering specialist, high quality knifeware and cutlery to those in working in a professional kitchen and consumers aspiring to improve their home cooking.

Alex Shannon, managing director of Gastronomy Plus, said: “We want to provide restaurant quality equipment at great value prices, helping the public to create their own exquisite dining experiences at home, while also supporting the growth of high-standard professional kitchens.”

He added that the Peter Maturi brand was “much loved” given its heritage in the market, which dates back to 1899 when it began life as a knife and scissor sharpening service in 1899 and opened a shop in Leeds city centre.

Other knifeware brands that Peter Maturi deals with include Global, Victorinox, Dick, Gustav Emil Ern, Swibo, Wusthof, Deglon and Tsuki.
