Kitchen porters get the limelight on ‘National KP Day’

Winterhalter is calling on foodservice operators to recognise the role that kitchen porters play in their business by celebrating ‘National KP Day’ next month.

The warewashing manufacturer has set 22 June as the date when operators can pay homage to their KPs. It is the second year running that it has promoted the initiative.

As well as giving the industry the chance to thank kitchen porters for their hard work, celebrate their important role in the catering industry and have a bit of fun along the way, Winterhalter has pledged to raise up to £1,000 for the Springboard charity.

Winterhalter is again inviting operators, managers or chefs to tweet photographs of their KPs, using the hashtag #kpday. For each of the first 1,000 pictures, it will donate £1 to the cause.

“It’s simple: take a pic on your smartphone, then tweet it using #kpday – maybe adding a comment or two, if it takes your fancy,” said Stephen Kinkead, managing director of Winterhalter.

All photographs will be uploaded to a gallery on the KP of the Year Awards website.
