Liebherr’s stock situation leaves operators pleasantly surprised

Liebherr will spend next week poring over the leads it has picked up at Hotelympia after surprising visitors with the breadth of its range and short lead time for delivery.

The manufacturer’s full foodservice refrigeration and wine cabinet portfolio has been on display at the ExCeL this week and, according to commercial sales manager, Mark Cooke, the latter generated substantial interest.

“I think one of the main things to come out of this week is that people have now really woken up to the fact that we’ve got wine cabinets and they are very good quality ones,” he told FEJ. “You always get the disparity between top-end product and entry-level product and Liebherr has got both whereas some competing brands tend to have one or the other. So I think we have got something for everybody in our range, which people maybe hadn’t realised before.”

Mr Cooke said that a good mixture of distributors and operators had stopped by the stand throughout the week to check out its latest equipment. With kitchens and catering areas typically getting smaller and smaller, its slimline range of refrigeration cabinets proved to be a particular topic of discussion.

The Biggleswade-based outfit’s stockholding capabilities also drew a nod from plenty of customers, it would appear.

“We have a great stockholding in the UK and the availability to be able to deliver within two or three days and that is something that has impressed a few people,” explained Mr Cooke. “I think some assumed that because we are a German-manufactured product there would be on a long lead time, but that’s not the case at all. One customer looked at a wine cabinet and assumed for whatever reason that it would be on a 10-12 week lead time. When we put a call into the office there were nine in stock. You would not expect us to keep such a high spec wine cabinet in stock but we do.”
