Oldham-based catering equipment supplier Linda Lewis Kitchens Ltd (LLK) has found one of its Cuppone pizza ovens still in use with an operator after more than 34 years of cooking.
Engineers from the firm discovered the oven at Pizzeria Bella Italia in Bury after being called out to fix a minor fault with a Cuppone oven.
They found the oven to be a Cuppone Paolo model which had been operating at the site for at least as long as the current owners have been there.
Will Pilling, LLK’s north west service manager, stated: “This is the oldest oven I have ever been out to service in the North West.”
As the spare parts required for the oven are now obsolete Pizzeria Bella Italia decided to replace the Paolo oven with another Cuppone model.
Pilling said: “Unfortunately for the owner parts for the machine were unavailable so we pointed the customer in the direction of one of our B-grade models. He was more than happy to purchase a new model from us given how few problems he had with the previous Cuppone oven.”
A B-grade Cuppone Tiepolo (TP9352) model was selected and it is hoped the oven would continue to provide the restaurant with the reliable and consistent results.
