A leading European manufacturing of field catering equipment has confirmed it will exit the business before the end of this year to focus its efforts on other areas.
B Medical Systems, which is based in Luxembourg, is a long-term producer of specialist kitchen equipment for the military sector.
But in a letter passed to FEJ, the company’s product manager for food and beverage, Gaetan Namuisi, confirmed it will stop manufacturing all field catering equipment to focus on medical technology. “All current orders and all new orders, before the 1st December, will be honoured,” he promised.
B Medical has not disclosed the reasons behind the move, but Mr Namuisi said he hoped that customers would not be angry. “We are very sorry for all the inconvenience this may cause and are hoping that you’ll understand our position.”
The company’s portfolio encompasses a wide range of catering equipment for military and other outdoor activities. This includes insulated transport food containers, field refrigerators and freezers, and food and beverage containers.
Its customers include various Armed Forces worldwide.
B Medical Systems’ insulated containers can accommodate transport of fresh or frozen goods for up to two days by non-refrigerated trucks and range in capacity from 13 litres to 1,000 litres.
It has also been behind new developments in the area of field refrigeration, including AC, DC and AC/DC field refrigerators encased in solid, rotational moulded and insulated cabinets. These are designed for integration in containerised kitchens, shelters, barracks or tents to maintain perishables in good and safe conditions.
