Bar and restaurant group Drake & Morgan is looking to ramp up the number of sites it operates and has appointed an experienced industry veteran to oversee the search for new properties.
Marcus Brownlow, who has almost 25 years’ experience in the property industry, joins the company in the newly-created role of property director to oversee the acquisition of new sites both in London and regionally throughout the rest of the UK.
Beginning his career in the property sector as a graduate surveyor, Brownlow made his name at Coffee Republic, growing the company from 30 stores to over 100 units in a few short years before joining Compass Group, where he directed locations for the group’s specialist brands from high-street sites and travel hubs to service stations and large stadiums.
From there, Brownlow moved to SSP Partner UK, the UK’s largest food retailer in railway stations with an annual turnover of over £1 billion.
Within two and half years in the role, he had helped opened 20 new sites as well as managing several refurbishment projects.
Brownlow’s most recent role saw him as head of acquisitions at EAT, one of the UK’s leading fast-casual cafés where he oversaw a move to a new head office while also performing a full strategic review of the company’s sites to maximise sales and increase brand presence.
Brownlow takes up his role in in late November 2016, and will be responsible for driving the acquisition pipeline of sites in London and across the UK.
