German bakery equipment manufacturer MIWE has launched a compact hybrid oven that is designed to help operators benefit from the sale of warm snacks in-store.
With the food-to-go market experiencing rapid growth, operators such as convenience stores and petrol stations, have recognised the need for equipment that can produce freshly baked bread and hot, steaming savouries.
With today’s consumer often short on time and requiring an immediate off-the-shelf product, MIWE has conceived the ‘Gusto Flash’, which it insists lives up to its name.
Steve Merritt, managing director of EPP, which supplies the brand in the UK, says: “It heats prepared snacks lightning fast at the point-of-sale. As a hybrid oven it also means that you can sell the ideal snack – one that is crispy on the outside and hot on the inside.”
Mr Merritt says the combination of impingement and microwave technology enables the oven to perform tasks at rapid speed. Advanced microwave technology with magnetrons on both sides ensures a uniform distribution and, therefore, much faster heating.
Microwave power is between 0 and 100% while the oven’s highly accelerated air flows of up to 26m/s from above and below, which are also adjustable from 0 to 100 per cent, guarantees a perfect crust.
The oven is easy to operate thanks to a large colour display panel. It holds up to 384 programmes and each can have up to six programme sections. The optional Meteorite flagstone serves as heat storage and is said to improve the taste and texture of food cooked on it, particularly pizza.
Epsom-based EPP was founded in 1972 as a supplier of high quality industrial bakery and food processing plant from leading specialist manufacturers across Europe. Its customers include most of the leading baking and food processing companies, many of which have been customers since the company was formed.
