Absurd Bird, the American South inspired chicken restaurant brand from Splendid Restaurants, is opening a second site in Soho this August in what marks the next phase of its expansion strategy.
The new site is located on Peter Street, opposite Berwick Street Market, and follows the highly successful first opening in Spitalfields in March 2016.
The restaurany will feature a 40-cover, two-storey restaurant with an open kitchen and intimate basement bar. It will serve a range of Southern-inspired chicken dishes, using only ethically-sourced, additive and hormone-free chickens from Fosse Meadows Farm.
The menu features Southern classics given an Absurd twist such as corn bread pudding, buffalo wings, sweet potato bake, spinach and artichoke dip, as well as jalapeno mac and cheese. Average spend at Absurd Bird is £20 per person dining in and £12 takeway.
“Our second London site, while different in many ways from our flagship in Commercial Street, still retains its eclectic southern menu with an interior exuding some old school southern charm and we are confident it will trade well,” said group operations director, Mark Hall. “Autumn launches planned for Exeter and Bath represent excellent regional opportunities for Absurd Bird, with prime locations in new dining quarters within high footfall shopping centres.’’
Splendid Restaurants is targeting a further 10 openings over the next five years.
