Water purity solutions specialist Aqua Cure has appointed a new managing director following the retirement of Mark Brown, who had been with the business for 20 years.
David Parkes (left, with Brown) has now taken over the helm at the Southport-based firm and will look to build on the growth that Brown achieved during his time with the company. He said he was “delighted to join a fantastic business with great people”.
Brown joined Aqua Cure in 1996 as a trade sales manager with a view to it being a stop-gap while he looked for something else. But he quickly found his feet and after being promoted to MD he presided over a period of unprecedented growth for the firm.
In an email to colleagues and business partners ahead of his retirement, he said Aqua Cure was now a very different business to the one that he joined.
“There have been some great highs including, as many know, and have ribbed me, many live guest appearances on QVC DIY show supporting QVC in their sales, predominantly on the Water Gem and contributing to water filter sales growth for both businesses,” he wrote.
“Other successes include the Green Apple award for Aqua Dosa sanitiser presented to us at The House of Commons, a Water Gem award presented at Shell House in Central London and becoming innovation finalists at our first Aquatech in Amsterdam, with dinner and presentations at the Ajaz stadium in Amsterdam.”
Brown also said he was proud that Aqua Cure was one of the founder members of the EDWCA and said he would leave with many fond memories of overseas trade show visits working with distributors and customers.
The company said in a statement that it wanted to thank him for his contribution and wish him a happy retirement.
Parkes takes over the hotseat at a time when Aqua Cure is undergoing an extensive rebrand and introducing a new ecommerce site.
The site provides information on a vast array of products and up to date stock information, and allows customers to view tailored pricing through password protected log-ins.
It also incorporates ‘attribute based searching’ so that visitors can search by capacity, connection size, features and benefits, or any number of other variables in order to make finding the right product as easy as possible.
