There’s been insect restaurants, rollercoaster restaurants and even Cadbury’s Creme Egg restaurants. But now a new eatery is set to open that will give anything a run for its money in the obscure dining stakes: the world’s first Willy Wonka chocolate restaurant.
Promising guests incredible chocolate, a deliciously expansive menu and stunning atmosphere, the ‘Toothsome Chocolate Factory & Savory Feast Emporium’ was unveiled this week by The Universal Orlando Resort, operator of Universal Studios. It is a joint venture between the experts that design theme park attractions and the team that creates blockbuster food and beverage experiences.
The full-service restaurant will bring together a specially created and expansive menu plus an array of gourmet-level chocolates and desserts – all in a highly themed, unique environment.
The 19th century inspired, Steampunk-era chocolate factory will display towering smokestacks and tanks, piping and other equipment for chocolate production. Inside, a mix of brass, dark wood and gadgetry – along with staff who will look and act the part – will complete the Steampunk feel.
The menu will feature a wide variety of unexpected, yet familiar dishes – from all-day-brunch crepes and quiches to unique takes on classic steak, seafood and pasta entrees, gourmet burgers, sandwiches, scrumptious salads and so much more. Unique desserts and specialty items are also planned to impress customers, along with an artisan milkshake collection.
Guests will also be able to watch chocolate creations being prepared – and take home samples purchased in the restaurant’s retail shop, according to the resort operator.
