Prospective users of Valoriani wood-fired ovens will be able to test drive the equipment at a specialist training facility opened in Preston.
The training hub has been created at the head office of catering equipment importer Orchard Ovens, which brings the Italian-built kit into the UK.
Orchard says the move will give would-be customers the opportunity to try before they buy.
The facility enables operators to learn the art of wood-fired cooking from experts including the company’s own Andrew Manciocchi, who has cooked with top chefs and worked with Valoriani for more than a decade.
Orchard intends to invite guest chefs to use the facility, but the primary focus is firmly on tackling any nervousness an operator may have about cooking with wood.
Manciocchi said: “Cooking with wood is easy, once you learn the tricks of the trade, and produces far better food than that turned out from a gas or electric oven. To help caterers and owners reap the benefits of serving food the wood-fired way, we have created a training facility that we feel will help them overcome any fears and quickly get to grips with cooking with wood.”
Manciocchi adds that Orchard aims to deliver training sessions that are informative and fun but which send chefs away enthused about the equipment.
Customers will receive cooking tips, recipes and guidance on which types of wood and lighters to use as part of the training.
“Training will assist those serious about purchasing a commercial wood-fired oven for their establishment by helping them tackle the learning curve quickly with expert tuition,” said Manciocchi.
