A handful of Nisbets stores in the east of England and Scotland remained closed this morning as three days of persistent and heavy snow continued to play havoc with business.
Retailers across the UK have been battling to stay open in the face of an onslaught from the ‘Beast of the East’ this week, as icy conditions have made trading difficult.
Nisbets took to social media this morning to confirm that its Glasgow and Edinburgh stores would be closed today (Thursday 1 March), while its Norwich store remains shut until further notice.
All three were forced to close yesterday due to the build-up of now.
The company’s Newcastle branch also had to close midway through the day yesterday, but was understood to be trading again this morning.
Nisbets runs 30 retail showrooms around the UK, selling a range of cookware, chefs’ accessories and catering equipment.
The rest of its store estate is unaffected and trading as normal.
Like a lot of retail businesses, Nisbets will no doubt be relieved to see the mercury rise next week. A message on its website warns customers to expect “disruption” to its delivery service this week due to the adverse weather conditions in some areas.
