Confident and optimistic with plans to invest and grow: that’s how owners of the UK’s independent coffee shops and cafés felt this time last year.
But a year on, do they still share the same sentiment? Organisers of the Caffè Culture Show are bidding to find out by launching a survey to explore how UK coffee shops and chains feel about business.
Industry professionals can give their verdict on the market via a quick online survey, which can be accessed here.
All survey respondents will be entered into a prize draw to win a £500 consultation with leading coffee shop industry adviser, author and Caffè Culture Show speaker John Richardson.
Caffè Culture Show event director, Cheryl Carroll, said: “The fact that the show celebrated its tenth anniversary last year reflects the continued growth of the UK café industry. We wanted to mark the occasion with a study that shone a spotlight on the thriving independent sector.”
Findings of the 2016 Cafeconomy report will be published in the run-up to the Caffè Culture Show, which takes place at London Olympia on 10-11 May.
According to last year’s Cafeconomy report, nine in ten (92%) independent operators felt confident and optimistic about their business for the coming year with eight in 10 expecting turnover growth. Just under six in 10 (59%) reported improved business performance in 2014 compared to 2013, with 93% planning investment in their business in the year to come.
