Optimum Group, Merseyside’s biggest Costa Coffee franchisee, has added its 22nd outlet in the area in what used to be the Red House pub in the Old Swan district (pictured).
The 2000 square foot premises has been made possible thanks to funding of £750,000 from Yorkshire Bank, which has been invested in the purchase of the building, fitting out the coffee shop, and creating three flats above the outlet.
Mark Bryan, managing director of Optimum, told local newspaper Liverpool Echo: “This has been our biggest project to date in terms of the work involved in converting an old pub into a modern Costa Coffee branch, while retaining as many features of the original building as possible.
“We are a Liverpool business and I grew up nearby, so I know the neighbourhood well and the reaction from the locals has been very rewarding.
“So many people have made the effort to say how appreciative they are of a quality brand moving in. The whole area will benefit greatly as a result.”
