PizzaExpress has confirmed it is looking to open at least 20 new restaurants a year as it drives ahead under the ownership of Chinese firm Hony Capital.
The chain said this week that it plans to recruit an additional 2,500 staff in the UK to support its goal of launching 100 new restaurants by 2020.
PizzaExpress currently operates almost 450 outlets nationwide, but believes the potential exists to grow the number closer to 600.
As part of the growth strategy it is putting its faith in young talent. It launched an apprentice scheme two years ago that has so far produced 380 jobs. Apprenticeships can be taken in kitchen services, food and beverage, supervisor, and hospitality supervision and leadership.
Richard Hodgson, chief executive of PizaExpress, commented: “This means investing in people, creating new opportunities and giving our teams a reason to feel good about what they do, and the valuable contribution they make.”
PizzaExpress celebrates its 50th year in business this year.
