Pret and Itsu founder Julian Metcalfe pencilled in for Lunch

Julian Metcalfe, the founder of itsu and co-founder of Pret A Manger, will give his insight to the current state of the food-to-go sector at the forthcoming Lunch! show after being confirmed as the headline speaker.

Mr Metcalfe, who is one of Britain’s most celebrated food-to-go entrepreneurs, will share his specialist knowledge and insight to the industry, having spent 30 years developing two of the most well-known chains in the business.

He launched Pret, which now numbers more than 500 stores globally in 1986, and then went on to found itsu, which has established a strong presence in the UK and now operates in the US.

It will be the first time that Mr Metcalfe has spoken at the show, which kicks off on 20 September at London ExCeL. “I feel passionately about delicious, fresh, fast-food, so I’m delighted to be speaking at the only trade show devoted to the food-to-go sector,” he said.

Chris Brazier, Lunch!’s group event director, said: “Lunch! has already well-established itself as the destination show for the food-to-go sector and having Julian Metcalfe part of this year’s line-up just makes it even more unmissable.  This is really big news for the show and a huge opportunity for our visitors to hear insights from an industry legend.”

The 2018 line-up will also include analysis from directors and senior execs from Pret, Caffè Nero, Leon, EAT, Tortilla and Tossed, as well as 370 exhibitors showcasing a host of new products, equipment, packaging and services.
