Ei Group, the UK’s largest pub company, is rolling out a new initiative that will give industry suppliers of all sizes the opportunity to showcase their products and services to the business.
The company plans to launch what it is calling ‘Supplier Open Mornings’, which are set to take place on a monthly basis. The first is scheduled for Wednesday 25 July at its head office in Solihull.
Prospective new suppliers will be allocated a 20-minute slot in which to pitch their product or service to key members of Ei Group’s procurement team.
Miles Selby, procurement director at Ei Group, said: “We work with some great suppliers of all sizes who help support our publicans in running successful businesses in the heart of their communities. But we’re always on the look-out for the next product or service that will add additional value and help give our publicans the edge when it comes to driving footfall.
“This new initiative will allow us to discover fresh and innovative products, while also giving new suppliers the opportunity to build relationships with Ei Group through driving forward our retail excellence agenda. In turn, this will further enhance the support we offer to our publicans and enable them grow their business.”
Ei Group, which was formerly known as Enterprise Inns and is responsible for 5,000 sites, first detailed plans for the supplier sessions at its annual Retail and Supplier Conference in Coventry last month.
Bosses at the firm used the event to highlight how suppliers can continue to play an integral role in delivering Ei Group’s vision of shared success and challenged them to “think differently” about how they can help it drive sales for publicans, reduce costs and deliver a better customer experience.
Ei Group has ramped up its focus on the breadth of business support tools and initiatives it offers its publicans across its large and diverse estate, with the goal of delivering better retail capability and profitable pubs.
Earlier this year it rolled out a new pizza concept that provides pubs with a set of equipment packages and kitchen templates to expand into pizza sales.
The company said that any prospective suppliers interested in participating in the opening mornings should email email@example.com for further information.
