Rational has vowed to appoint a UK managing director in “due course” after confirming this week that Lee Norton has left the company.
The company said that Mr Norton had left with immediate effect in order to take over a new challenge. It is not known what that is, but it is understood that it is outside of the catering equipment industry.
Confirming the change of management, Rational said in a statement: “A suitable replacement will be appointed in due course but in the meantime the day to day running of the business will be handled by the executive vice-president, Rational AG, Mr Götz Sauer, together with the established local management team.”
Mr Norton (right) has overseen the UK subsidiary’s strong growth in recent years, with the company responsible for more than one in every two combi ovens sold in the UK.
Last year the UK arm was named the top division worldwide as sales exploded on the back of the Free School Meals initiative. Mr Norton was credited with ensuring the company invested in additional UK stock for the project, thereby avoiding some of the supply shortage problems that other manufacturers encountered.
Rational UK added: “We will continue to serve our customers by offering the highest level of service and by being the easiest supplier to do business with.”
