Restaurant chains Tapas Revolution and Five Guys have put their names to maiden sites at the Meadowhall shopping complex in Sheffield.
The pair are among 11 new lettings offered by real estate firm British Land, but the only two from the foodservice industry.
The deals follow Meadowhall’s recent 25th birthday celebrations and the launch of a £50m internal refurbishment of the centre which began in late September.
Tapas Revolution will move into a 2,000 square foot site while Five Guys has agreed terms on a 3,160 square foot unit.
Meadowhall becomes Tapas Revolution’s third major shopping centre site – it is also present in Bluewater and Westfield – while it has a restaurant in Shoreditch. It specialises in authentic Spanish cuisine. Five Guys, meanwhile, has been building a reputation for providing gourmet, made-to-order burgers and now has more than 30 sites in the UK.
British Land said it is currently in discussions with other “premium retailers” although it did not disclose if these were from the restaurant sector.
Meadowhall’s internal refurbishment is due for completion by the end of 2017. It is expected to significantly enhance the centre and ensure it remains a modern shopping environment for both retailers and consumers.
Meadowhall is one of only six super-regional shopping centres in the UK. It attracts more than 23.5 million shoppers a year and boasts 50 restaurants and cafes.
