Synergy Grill equips contest to find the world’s best steak

Synergy Grill has been chosen as the grill of choice for the popular World Steak Challenge competition, which kicks off in London tomorrow.

The British company will provide six grills for the challenge which attracts beef producers from across the globe. This year’s event is being held at the Magic Roundabout on Old Street.

Now in its fourth year, the World Steak Challenge is designed to benchmark the quality of beef production against international competitors.

Success in the competition is regarded as an independent stamp of excellence that can be used to raise the profile of the winner and only one steak will achieve the prestigious status of World’s Best Steak 2018.

This year a record number of countries have entered the challenge from all corners of the world, making it truly international.

The challenge involves each steak entered to be cooked and sampled by a panel of judges, which will include some of the industry’s top butchers, food journalists and meat scientists.

In the first stage of the challenge, the steaks are closely looked at in their raw form before they are cooked. The judges will be assessing the product for appearance, aroma, colour, marbling and consistency of fat trim of the meat.

The steaks are then cooked to a medium level and then sampled by the judges, who taste the meat based on its appearance, aroma, tenderness, flavour and succulence.

Each steak is awarded a Bronze, Silver or Gold medal award, and the Gold medal winners then go forward to the second stage. From here, the steaks are cooked on the Synergy Grills by a range of expert chefs before a new panel of judges sample each one.

A winner for each category is chosen, which includes the World’s Best Sirloin, World’s Best Rib Eye and the World’s Best Fillet. The steak with the highest overall score is then declared the World’s Best Steak, with the supplier given the impressive title of World’s Best Steak Producer.
