Tartan army behind The Wild Game Co continues invasion of London

The team behind London’s The Wild Game Co. has created a second concept that will open its first outlet in the West End this summer.

The Wild Game Co. started life four years ago as a street food outlet; quickly winning Street Food of the Year at the Young British Foodies Awards and Best Signature Burger at the National Burger Awards. It recently opened its first permanent restaurant on Soho fringe hot spot Charlotte.

WGC’s founder, Andy Waugh, hails from a family of butchers just north of Inverness, which sources and supplies all the meat to the business.
Mac & Wild is promising to extend the WGC theme with a focus on fun cooking and promoting modern British game and seafood.

“We’re delighted to be bringing the North of Scotland to Central London with the launch of Mac & Wild restaurant. Our produce is not just wild or from somewher’ up North, we can tell you exactly who shot it and where from: The Highlands, and we look forward to sharing it with you soon,” said Waugh.

Mac & Wild will have a seasonal menu, with dishes including venison tartar, cured smoked scallops, venison steak, venison burgers with duck fat chips and whisky tipsy or horseradish toffee for dessert.

The restaurant will stay true to the rural ethos, with design features including original hardwood floors, stag heads mounted on the walls and butchers hooks hanging from the ceiling.

The venue will hold up to seventy covers, which will be split into two floors.
