The owners of Europe’s first ‘Tequila Hotel’ on the Isle of Wight have ambitions to develop their portfolio with a string of restaurant and bar openings, FEJ can reveal.
Dynamic couple Aiste Bart and Andrew Taylor, who opened the ‘EL Patron’ Mexican-themed bar and restaurant in London earlier this year have just extended the brand to Newport in the Isle of Wight, only with the addition of bedrooms.
They are targeting more than four openings a year between now and 2019, and already have another bar and restaurant site under off in London as they look to ramp up their plans.
“In total we hope to have 14 of those in the next three years — bar and restaurants predominately and if something comes up with a couple of rooms then that would be good,” confirmed Taylor.
The six-bed boutique on the Isle of Wight features their Mexican-themed bar and restaurant , with a street food-inspired menu that includes dishess such as spinach and feta quesadillas, slow cooked pork burritos and fish tacos, all served on sharing plates to give an authentic South American experience.
Taylor said the pair are currently scouring sites in the south as they look to branch out further, with London and Bournemouth top of their hit list.
“Competition for sites is extremely tough at the moment,” he says. “It’s just finding the right opportunities and the right sites and the right markets and looking at cool little suburbs, like Putney. We will go into central, but little by little. I think there is so much more to offer in the suburbs, and you get to know people and your clientele better.”
