TGI Fridays confirmed today that its 74th restaurant will open at Newcastle’s Metrocentre, with 90 jobs set to be created as a result of the investment.
The site will become the third that the chain runs in Newcastle and will take its inspiration from the company’s new flagship restaurant in Soho, London. The décor will be based on the “fun, energetic and vibrant aesthetics” of the Leicester Square branch, it said.
The new Fridays will feature a “stunning” open kitchen, allowing guests to see their food cooked to perfection before their eyes.
David Carroll, property director for TGI Fridays UK, said: “It’s great to see that there is such an appetite for Fridays in Newcastle, and we’re very excited about opening our third restaurant in the area to welcome even more local residents into our restaurants – and importantly, create new jobs in the area.”
This year is TGI’s 30th anniversary in the UK. The UK franchise is owned by Electra Partners after it acquired it last year, investing £99m of equity in the deal.
