TRG puts ‘for sale’ sign on six unwanted restaurants

The Restaurant Group (TRG) has put six of its former restaurants in England, Scotland and Wales on the market.

The sale comes just two months after the restaurant heavyweight placed 23 sites for sale following a review of its business.

The units are available on an individual basis and comprise four Frankie & Benny’s outlets in Borehamwood, Edinburgh, Gateshead and Newport as well as two Coast to Coast restaurants in Hemel Hempstead and Nottingham.

The properties, which are not currently trading, are being sold with existing planning and licensing consents meaning they could be reoccupied quickly.

We revealed last week how Coast to Coast had suspended further restaurant openings while management develops a new strategy for the chain following a slump in sales.

TRG has instructed real estate advisor Savills to find a buyer for the six sites.

David Bell, head of UK leisure at Savills, said: “We are pleased to be marketing these properties on behalf of The Restaurant Group.  Those brought to market earlier this year have attracted interest from a range of established retail and leisure operators as well as new entrants thanks to the diverse mix of locations involved, and we expect these additional sites to do the same.”

Savills is also retained to acquire new sites for TRG across the Midlands, East Anglia, the South of England and Wales.
