German catering equipment manufacturer Vito is celebrating after its oil filtration system was awarded an ‘Innovation SMART Label’ at this week’s HOST exhibition.
The innovation award recognises highly innovative products that seek to break and overcome established trends in the industry. Vito’s kit reduces oil consumption, lowers the cleaning efforts and offers operators purported savings of up to 50% on their oil.
The brand was just one of nine companies to gain the Innovation label. Other foodservice equipment names to receive the award include Adventys, Halton and Küppersbusch.
Additionally, 63 SMART Label awards were given out at the show from a total of 146 applications.
Organisers of HOST said the volume of applications it received was testimony the foodservice equipment industry’s ability to renew itself and customising its offering.
The judging committee comprised a number of industry experts. This included Francesco Profumo, president of the energy company Iren and Minister of Education from 2011 to 2013; Chris McMahon, professor of engineering design at the University of Bristol; Federico Ferrazza, director of Wired Italy; Matteo Ingaramo, director of POLI.design; and Arturo Dell’Acqua Bellavitis, Dean of the Faculty of Design at Politecnico di Milano.
They made their decisions based on the efficiency of each product, the effectiveness of product performance and the benefits to users.
