Water-saving warewashers leave Meiko in the driving seat

Meiko continues to pick up plaudits for advances in warewashing technology after scooping no fewer than five awards globally in the last few weeks.

Among the silverware was a Kitchen Innovations Award 2016 from the USA-based National Restaurant Association. It was among 25 companies to pick up the annual prize after impressing judges with its GreenEye Technology.

The panel said that Meiko had set itself “high targets” when it comes to saving water, and hailed the light-guiding system that tells those working with the machine which conveyor belt lanes should be filled in order to achieve maximum water efficiency. Sensors detect any gaps on the conveyor belt and aim the rinse aid with fresh water only where it is really needed.

Its product will now be showcased in the interactive Kitchen Innovations Pavilion at the NRA show in Chicago in May.

“We are proud to have been awarded such an important prize by the National Restaurant Association, which represents more than 380,000 gastronomy firms,” said Markus Braun, President of Meiko USA. „With other award winners, such as Manitowoc, Rational and Vollrath, Meiko is pleased to be among the best, says Braun.

Meiko‘s managing director, Dr. Stefan Scheringer, said the accolade was a sign that the company was heading in the right direction with its research and development.

“Building on the concept of the M-iQ device series, considered revolutionary in this sector, with our GreenEye Technology we have intelligently incorporated the people factor and so have achieved valuable synergies for greater sustainability and optimum dishwashing results,” he commented.

An independent panel of industry experts, comprised of internationally-recognized food facilities consultants, multi-unit restaurant executives, and design experts, selected the KI Award recipients.

Other awards that Meiko has picked up recently include the Grüne Band sustainability award in the ‘water’ category from German publisher Huss-Medien Group the Intergastra exhibition in Stuttgart and the ‘Super Partner’ accolade from German restaurant association GGKA.
