JD Wetherspoon has come out top in YouGov’s BrandIndex 2015 following a survey which asked respondents: ‘If you’ve heard anything about the brand in the last two weeks, through advertising, news or word-of-mouth, was it positive or negative?’
The popular pub chain scored 6.4 in the top buzz rankings of fast-food and pub chains, almost double that of Nando’s which was in second place with 3.9.
Costa scored 3.9 and Greggs received 3.1 while Toby Carvery only got 2.5.
Tim Martin, founder and chairman of Wetherspoon’s said: “It is always good to come out top, especially against many other leading companies.
“The ironic thing is that we never judge Wetherspoon to be a brand. In fact, we make every effort possible to ensure that we are not seen as a brand, whether through individual pub names, individual design or a range of different beers at our pubs.”
