Italian restaurant Zizzi has begun planning for a new restaurant in Derby after exchanging on a 3,000 square foot unit at one of the city’s shopping centres.
The site at Intu Derby, which used to be Westfield Derby, will open this summer and take the number of stores that Zizzi operates to more than 110.
Its arrival at Intu Derby follows on from the opening Byron Burger and Joe’s Kitchen restaurants already this year.
Marc Ward, group head of acquisitions at Zizzi’s parent company Azzurri Restaurants, said: “intu Derby provides a perfect location for us to open a new restaurant and our affordable and family friendly food offer will complement the centre’s mix of retail and leisure.”
The addition of Zizzi will further enrich intu Derby’s restaurant provision by providing a variety of restaurants for its 25 million annual customers to enjoy throughout the day and into the evening.
Martin Breeden, regional director of intu, said: “We have been very pleased with the performance of catering within the centre and the strength of demand for new restaurants. We have got 25 million visitors per year so we are very confident that Zizzi, Byron Burger and Joe’s Kitchen will all trade well at intu Derby.”
