First airport site for growing juice bar operator

Juice and coffee bar concept Joe & the Juice is poised to open its first UK airport site as it continues its expansion into key retail destination sites.

The chain, which serves made-to-order nutritional juices and shakes, has secured one of 18 units made available as part of an £80m terminal redevelopment, which will open later this year.

The move comes just two months after Joe & Juice strike a deal with John Lewis to open concessions at its stores in Birmingham, Bluewater, Newcastle and Watford.

Stansted will be Joe & the Juice’s 14th site in the UK. It also operates in the US and Singapore, and launched its first site in South Korea earlier this month.

The launch of new retail outlets marks the third and final phase of a two-year terminal transformation project taking place at Stansted Airport.

Phase two of the development increased the choice of cafes, bars and restaurants with the arrival of 12 new offers including airport firsts, celebrity chef treats and traditional favourites as well as welcoming the opening of the airport’s first ever Escape Lounge.

Andrew Harrison, managing director at Stansted Airport, said: “Interest in this final phase was once again extremely high with over 80 proposals received for the 18 remaining retail units giving a clear indication of what an exciting development this is in terms of travel retail.”
