Ali Group makes first acquisition since pandemic struck

Kold-Draft

Ali Group has deepened its ice machine offer by acquiring Kold-Draft International from The Legacy Companies for an undisclosed amount.

The takeover of the Fort Lauderdale, Florida – known for its machines that make square cubes – strengthens a global ice machine portfolio that already includes Scotsman and Ice-O-Matic.

Filippo Berti, chairman and CEO of Ali Group, said: “We are very pleased to welcome Kold-Draft into the Ali Group. The Kold-Draft acquisition is strategically important to our group as it strengthens our position as a leader in the global commercial foodservice industry.

“This latest acquisition provides us with one of the industry’s most unique and well-known ice shapes and further enhances our portfolio in the ice machine segment. The addition of very strong and well-recognised brands to those of the group increases Ali’s global presence and visibility.”

Kold-Draft has been manufacturing ice machines since 1955 and offers a three-year warranty on all parts and labour.

It produces what it calls the “only true square cube,” utilising their exclusive “upside-down” horizontal evaporator ice-making system.

Its former owner, The Legacy Companies, markets brands such as Avanti, Bevles, ChefsChoice, EdgeCraft, Excalibur, Greenfield World Trade, Maxx Cold, Maxx Ice and Zeroll.
