Social media has become a major battleground for contemporary burger chains as they have quickly come to realise that the way to a customer’s heart is through their mobile phone. Just ask Ed’s Easy Diner, which is surfing the crest of the digital wave after revealing that more than 100,000 people have now downloaded its ‘Ed’s Club Loyalty App’.
CEO Andrew Guy, a stalwart of the industry, is well aware that achieving the right engagement with this growing fan base is important to the company’s future prospects, as is the need to expand its proposition into new locations.
The 1950s American-themed chain has just struck an agreement with travel operator SSP that will see it open the first Ed’s Easy Diner at London’s Liverpool Street Station.
With Ed’s rated as one of the fastest growing casual dining formats in the UK, and SSP well-versed in travel-based quick-service restaurant businesses, it is confident of conquering the challenges that complex station environments present.
Andrew says: “Dwell time at train stations is certainly increasing and with a daily footfall of 180,000 people, we’re confident the Liverpool Street Diner will be a success. Together with SSP, we’ll aim to open 10 more Diners by the summer of 2020 in UK stations, airports and visitor attractions.”
