Aramark signs up Brakes for UK distribution after 10-year deal with Chef Direct expires

Aramark Northern Europe has signed up Brakes as its new UK distributor on a five-year contract.

Brakes now has responsibility for Aramark UK’s entire distribution network across all sectors in England, Scotland and Wales.

The partnership comes after Aramark’s previous 10-year contract with Chef Direct ended in March. Chef Direct is part of Booker Group, which is owned by Tesco.

Aramark already has existing relationships with Brakes’ parent company Sysco in the US, Canada and Ireland.

Aramark said its transition to Brakes is part of a focus on operational efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability.

The alliance will seek to remove supply chain complexity and deliver a “simple, transparent, and customer-first approach to operations”, while ensuring no adverse impact to clients.

Stephen Brennan, supply chain director at Aramark Northern Europe, said: “We are delighted to grow and expand our partnership with Brakes. Aramark has always had a positive, professional relationship with Sysco distributors around the world, and we look forward to bringing the best of this partnership to the UK.”

Aramark employs more than 16,000 people throughout Northern Europe and provides catering services to a wide range of corporate customers.
